These chains are great for giving you a little extra traction in the snow. But if you live somewhere where you experience heavy snow often, you'll definitely want something more heavy duty than cables. Because these cable chains are lightweight and don't take up a lot of storage space, they are also perfect for keeping in your truck if you occasionally travel through areas that require you to have chains on hand.
SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's user manual.

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.
We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.
You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.
Installing these chains is simple.
1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks.
2. Drape the chain over the tire or lay the chain out and drive onto it.
3. Reach around to the back of the tire and fasten the rear side cable by running the end with the metal stops through the eye of the hook on the opposite end.
4. Run any excess side cable through the metal clip.
5. Repeat this process on the front side of the tire.
6. Drive forward 1 car length, then check the chain and hand tighten it again if needed.
Rubber adjusters (sold separately) are recommended to help ensure a tight fit. Connect these to the front side of the cable in a star pattern. Make sure the hooks face away from your tire so your wheels don't get scratched.

The instructions that came with the chains weren't great, but I watched the video on etrailer which was very straight forward. I watched the video 2 times then took the chains out of the bag and had both on in less than 5 minutes.
Service was great! etrailer reached out when they realized what I ordered was out of stock and would take some time to come in. I ended up changing to a different product to get it much faster, one they suggested. They kept me updated with delivery information. I highly recommend this company!

Made and it is well packed! Tensioners do not come with the chains otherwise they are a good value for the money.
These cable chains will be perfect "just in case" items for our cross state trips.

Purchased these chains "just in case" and of course, I had to put them into use in the first few weeks. The installation video was very informative and made putting the chains on easier. After a little bit of driving on packed snow, I got out and checked them for adjustments any needed, but the chains were still secure.
Taking the chains off is a little difficult, due to their being frozen and wet, but the design is not an issue.
Finally, I recommend you travel with an emergency kit with any tools needed, a headlamp for nighttime installs/removals, and a waterproof mat (rolled yoga mat?) so you don't get soaked. Good product for occasional use.
great tire cable and very easy to install. Used them once last year but with the tremendous snow fall we've been having in the Sierras, I surely will be using the chains quite a bit more this season.
Needed lightweight cable chains for wife's Q5. Since I knew the chains were essentially only for looks (AWD with M/S tires, Audi doesn't recommend chain use and would likely never be used (but CHP and NHP require you carry when chain control), I aslo didn't want to spend $ 250+. Q5 has 20' rims so selection at usual inexpensive places scarce to say least.

These tire chains work well for traction in emergency situations however the metal had some really sharp edges from the manufacturing process and even touching the chains cut up my hands like broken glass. I used gloves the second time and they shredded the gloves installing the chains. Won't be using them again unless as a last resort. Running a file over the metal is needed.
Apparently, I have an unusual tire size and I could not find tire cables that would fit my car in my Southern California location. Used these on my all-wheel Taurus SHO to the wilds of Montana last Christmas. Got stranded on a steep driveway that was one solid piece of ice that I had not chance of moving up what so ever. Put the cables on and literally drove up the sheet of ice as if it were gravel. Easy on, easy off and extremely effective. Highly rated especially considering the price.

Have used these chains on another vehicle and purchased these for my wife’s suv. Easy to install and do what they are intended to do, keep u rolling down the road in snowy conditions.
